About the project
This project will deliver modern, culturally appropriate learning spaces to support the education of Martu students in the Punmu community. These classrooms are designed to foster two-way learning, where Martu cultural knowledge and Western education intersect to empower the next generation.
EIW Architects designed the buildings to meet the unique climate needs of the Punmu community, ensuring both functionality and sustainability.
METIO is leading the project's development, including facilitating community consultations, grant writing, and managing the planning and design process. With funds now secured, and Development Approval received, construction is planned to commence in 2025.

The new classrooms will benefit over 50 students in the Punmu community, providing a safe, inspiring, and well-equipped environment for education. This project is a step towards reducing educational disadvantage in remote areas and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Martu people.
